The Brag Basket is our tradition of sharing. The basket is always free and open all weekend, this one June 14-16, 2013.
What good news will you add to the brag basket?
Don’t hold back because of that word, “brag.” When you hold back, you hide your good news and accomplishments that might inspire others. Even though I call this the Brag Basket, it’s not really about bragging. It’s about sharing.
What can you do in the Brag Basket?
- introduce yourself
- share some great news from this week
- congratulate a friend
- laugh about something wonderful that you tried that failed
- applaud for each other
Speak up and add yourself or another deserving soul in the comments. It lets you meet each other a bit. Reading each others’ stories brings us a bit closer to being a community.
How does it work? You write a comment on this post. We all cheer, and everyone feels great.
This is not an ad. (I delete the ads.) If you talk more about the people involved than thethings, you’ll be fine.
It’s a conversation with friends. So jump in. And remember to cheer for each other.

I’ll go first this week. Twitter friend @Dayngr reminded me I should go first. :)
I’m proud that this week I’ve received several request to come to a small town to speak. I haven’t confirmed any yet, but it’s always a thrill to be invited. You can see the pending appearances list here.

After several months of working on this project, I received word that our city, Jewett, Texas, has been named the Sculputre Capital of Texas. So excited and can’t wait to begin working on a huge celebration!

Congratulations, Kristy and all of Jewett!

What a Friday! I started it with an early morning interview on WGN http://wgnradio.com/2013/06/14/how-to-know-its-a-good-charity/. Then signed up a new client AND heard back from a possible keynote in Bogota in the fall!

Congratulations, Marc! That’s a terrific way to round out a week.

…..after a good long while, it gets so, at times, that you just are basically lost…as though at sea, without a compass…that has been my experience…and at these times, you’ve got to have something rock solid as your base, so as not to be standing out on deck and get yourself washed overboard…something(s) in which your faith is solidly rooted – when you find these places within yourself, you will know what it is that you are here to do, and you can go about doing it….that’s where I am at this moment…not a lot to brag about, perhaps…but it feels good to express these vague and at times troubling perceptions….
thanks for providing this unique spot on the web where we can come and leave some tracing of our mentality…I appreciate it as there is no other place quite like it…
Thanks, Becky –
Wayne

Exhausted but enthusiastic and excited for the next three days when we will be at the Ashley ND, 125th celebration selling our book, Ewiger Saatz. This is a food culture book in a beautiful 128 page 12X12-inch full color coffee table book format. The book captures the food culture of the Germans from Russia in Emmons County, Logan county and McIntosh county, North Dakota as told by the people who farmed and gardened in the area. It holds, interviews, photographs, memories and recipes about surviving in a time before electricity when food was grown and eaten locally. Love the book, and must remember it is a gift to those who went before and not get caught up in the daily riff of details, personalities and naysayers. Or CAVErs, i.e., Citizens Against Virtually Everything.

Carmen, hang in there and have a great time selling books in Ashley!
