The Brag Basket is our gift to each other

By Small Biz Survival

The Brag Basket is our tradition of sharing. The things we share are our gifts to each other.

The basket is always free and open all weekend, this one Dec 23-25, 2011. Have some good news this week? Put it in the Brag Basket.

Don’t hold back because of that word, “brag.” When you hold back, you hide your good news and accomplishments that might inspire others. Even though I call this the Brag Basket, it’s not really about bragging. It’s about sharing.

What can you do in the Brag Basket?

  • introduce yourself
  • share some great news from this week
  • congratulate a friend
  • laugh about something wonderful that you tried that failed
  • applaud for each other

Speak up and add yourself or another deserving soul in the comments. We all cheer, and everyone feels great. It lets you meet each other a bit. Reading each others’ stories brings us a bit closer to being a community.

How does it work? You write a comment on this post.

This is not an ad. (I delete the ads.) It’s a conversation with friends. So jump in. And remember to cheer for each other.

Hi! My name is John Nelson. I own a small photography business in Sioux Falls, SD, called John’s Photography. My item for the brag basket: I successfully designed and launched a new website for my business. My new site (shotbyjohn.com) replaces a clunkier, more expensive site.

    Happy holidays everybody!

John, welcome to the Brag Basket, and congrats on a newer, better, less expensive site!

It’s been a long time since I posted in the brag basket, but… why not :)

Between today and Christmas, I am launching three new WordPress sites for clients, all built from scratch. Two of those sites were built in less than a week, as I push lots of work out the door in anticipation of a end-of-the-year trip abroad. And not only were they super quick to build, they’re creatively some of my best work in awhile, which is really cool :)

My company also recently open-sourced two of our internal projects: Amalia, a content management system “for the rest of us,” and Rach5, a “boilerplate” for WordPress themes so you can build them faster. It’s our way of giving back!! (I won’t put links here, but you can search for both projects on Github, all you developer types)

Hope everyone’s holiday and new year festivities are great!

Hello, Chris! Great to see you again! Congratulations on the quick designs, and thank you making your contribution to the open source community. That’s a gift to all of us.
