Tony explains the Brag Basket

By Small Biz Survival

New friend from SXSW, Tony Katz, president and founder of Aweli.com, left some comments in our brag basket that explain why we do it, better than we ever have explained it before.

Ok, here’s my brag. I’m thrilled to know other people who understand the importance of being proud of what you do and the good things that hard work brings.

I never understood why people are embarrassed or, possibly, ashamed when good things happen to them. From getting a new camera (congrats Becky) to having your business hit its stride (congrats Pistachio).

It’s ok to have success, it’s ok to have great things happen in your life and it is ok to talk about those things. Embrace the good things that happen and the work that it took to get the good things to happen. Then, focus on more good things, and make them happen. The vision is only achieved through the action.

Keep up the great work, Becky.

…I can’t tell you how much that phrase means and how much I believe in it….

…when I think of the time wasted in my life by self sabotage…thinking I didn’t deserve or wasn’t worthy of success….

..such a waste..when I made the change, everything changed..when I decided that my thoughts required action, everything changed

…thus…The Vision Is Only Achieved Through The Action…and that’s the one to quote me on..glad you liked my comment overall

That’s why we are here, every week. Open for your brags, comments, and giving you a chance to celebrate with friends. Yes, you can brag on others, but we applaud twice as much when you gather your strength and brag on yourself. Just put it in the comments on this post.

So, go ahead. Brag.

    OK, I’ll go first. :-)

I’d like to brag on my first-ever collaboration with a subcontractor, which so far has worked out very well. He’s a super-nice kid with fantastic design skills who I hope to work with again as my business grows and expands.

So there — two brags in one: one for me, and one for the subcontractor who is helping me GTD. :-)

Hurray, Bob! Both are terrific for you, and both fit into some themes we’ve talked about lots recently. Here’s to future growth and expansion! Glad to have your recent contributions here, too.

Did you see our goofy, fun commercial for Small Biz Survival? SOBCon08 and Utterz are promoting a contest for best blog commercial, so here’s our entry, featuring all us Okies: http://is.gd/76W

We had a hoot making this!!

    That commercial is AWESOME!!!

This week was pretty awesome, too. I bought myself a superfancy new vacuum cleaner because dang it all, me and my floors deserve it!

On the more serious side, I took on my first two consulting clients–communicatrix | consults is officially open for bidness. (Gotta pay for superfancy new vacuum cleaner.)

Karen (sammysmom), you should have been here, and we would have given you a part! And thanks for dropping in. :)

Colleen (Communicatrix), I saw you Tweet about that vacuum. Very nifty!
But I didn’t see you tweet about the consulting! Major congratulations! You have so much to share with the world, and I’m glad to see you have this particular outlet for sharing it. :)

I would like to brag that I was one of the stars in becky mccray’s commercial, we laughed so much I got a cramp in my side. I also bought a new sweeper, not so superfancy just new.

Thanks for the invitation to brag, Becky.

My brag is that on Friday, my pageviews at Biz Chicks Rule (http://www.bizchicksrule.com/) were quadruple the usual numbers. They also continued to be more than double yesterday. Wahoo!

Kristen, congratulations on the traffic spike! Always a bonus when it lasts more than one day, also. I love the name of your site, and I’m now a subscriber. Cheers!
