During the Mid States Chamber and Economic Development Conference in March, I heard Deb Brown talk about community ideas (of course!). One idea she shared was to hold a community Photo Walk. I immediately texted a photographer in our community to see if she would be interested in helping with this. She said yes, and we started working on the idea as soon as I returned home!

We held our Photo Walk on May 16th. We coincided the walk with our local flower shop’s geranium festival and made our theme “flowers.” We gathered at the flower shop, 4th Avenue Floral, and the shop provided snacks for the Photo Walkers. Then, we simply walked around town and took photos of flowers! We did not have a large number of people show up, but the people that needed to be there were there :) The response the event had online was AMAZING!

    Simple. Easy. Fun. Community Building.

Thanks again Deb for the awesome idea! You can see more photos from our Photo Walk on our Facebook page! https://www.facebook.com/events/225137387967069/permalink/238385106642297/

Cheyenne, I love how you took this idea and put it into action right away! Deb and I have been talking about the idea of taking photos and how to use that for positive lasting change in your town. We’re looking forward to sharing it soon!
