Share your goodness in the Brag Basket

By Small Biz Survival

The Brag Basket is our tradition of sharing. The basket is always free and open all weekend, this one August 31 – Sept 2, 2012. Have some good news this week? Put it in the Brag Basket.

Fresh tomatoes
A sharing basket,
from my Maine trip.

Don’t hold back because of that word, “brag.” When you hold back, you hide your good news and accomplishments that might inspire others. Even though I call this the Brag Basket, it’s not really about bragging. It’s about sharing.

What can you do in the Brag Basket?

  • introduce yourself
  • share some great news from this week
  • congratulate a friend
  • laugh about something wonderful that you tried that failed
  • applaud for each other

Speak up and add yourself or another deserving soul in the comments. It lets you meet each other a bit. Reading each others’ stories brings us a bit closer to being a community.

How does it work? You write a comment on this post. We all cheer, and everyone feels great.

This is not an ad. (I delete the ads.) It’s a conversation with friends. So jump in. And remember to cheer for each other.

Congrats to Jim Long (@newmediajim) for getting his boat in the water. Literally! As he began, progressed, and is nearing completion of his built-at-home-by-hand boat, Jim has tweeted about it and shown the occasional progress photo, and generally kept the world (at least his twitter followers) in the loop, making us feel part of the process. It’s been fun watching his progress and cheering him on, as his success prompts me to dive into those big projects as well!

    WAY TO GO JIM!

Brag on my younger son – he put my new office chair together.
It has been ‘new’ for a while but I’ve been unable to carry it in the house to assemble it.

This week I asked him to put it together. BAM! I came home one day to find it had replaced my old chair.
