Brag Basket – Have we gone bananas?

By Small Biz Survival

UPDATE: New brags listed below!

We don’t think there are enough chances to brag in the real world of small business, so we have gone bananas here. That’s why we have a Brag Basket. You can post a comment bragging about whatever wonderful thing from this week.

If you feel a bit bananas yourself, you can post a copy of our lovely basket on your site. It was donated to us by our friend BJ.

By the way, the Brag Basket is always open! We may start on Friday, but you can feel free to brag any time.

Mark Harbeke came by, and left this brag:

Thanks, Becky. I would like to brag about our new recognition program for exceptional small organizations. We’re a tiny nonprofit in Evanston, IL, and we recently announced a partnership with The Wall Street Journal to honor the Top Small Workplaces. Nominations are now being accepted on our website and on the Journal’s StartupJournal.com website, and will be accepted through January 31, 2007. Winners will be announced in a special section of the StartupJournal print edition in October 2007, and our organization will also honor them at a conference that same month (date TBA). If an organization has 500 or fewer employees and earns less than $200 million a year, they’re eligible. Please visit our site and help us get a diverse pool of nominees for this new workplace recognition program!

OK, that’s my Friday brag. I am an avid reader of your blog — keep up the great work, Becky!

Hi, again, Mark! I remember your previous comment on your Winning Workplaces programs. (I want to do a special post all about that! Email me.)

That is an impressive partnership! Congratulations on getting the WSJ to work with you. Best of luck with the contest. I hope you are overwhelmed with outstanding entries!

And, Mark, thank you for the compliment!

And I have a couple of brags. The Montana State Tribal Economic Development Commission selected Small Biz Survival as the ONLY small business blog to list! Wow! I’m glad that our material is helpful to real people!

AND stop by and check out the huge variety of Christmas gift sets we managed to get for our store. These are normally only made available to the big city stores, but we’ve learned some of the new tricks to it! Sorry, no mail orders! :) (I forgot that I bragged about this last week, but it’s worth two brags, I think.)

One other brag for this week: I’m finally off of crutches! (That’s for those of you who have followed the saga of my broken leg since August.) What a relief!

Dana Wallert stopped by to brag, too:

This is too great! I had to tell you I loved it since I’m stealing the basket and all.

I’m glad to have found your blog, as I have two (that’s my brag…just launched the second one yesterday!) small businesses that I am marketing in rural areas of Eastern Kansas here. I look forward to “stealing” more from you in the future!

Thanks, Dana! Congratulations on opening that second business. I see that you are actually responding to customer requests for you to create the web design business! Good for you!
