Waiting for you to share in the Brag Basket

By Small Biz Survival

Even though I call this the Brag Basket, it’s not really about bragging. It’s about sharing. I started this so you can introduce yourself, share some good news, or congratulate a friend.

The basket is open all weekend, from July 16-18, 2010.

Speak up and add yourself or another deserving soul in the comments. We all cheer, and everyone feels great. It lets you meet each other a bit. Reading each others’ stories brings us a bit closer to being a community.

How does it work? You write a comment on this post, email me, tweet me, or comment on Facebook. You tell something great about your week, or you give applause to someone who did good stuff this week. Or you celebrate something wonderful that you tried that failed.

This is not an ad. (I delete the ads.) It’s a conversation with friends. So jump in. And remember to cheer for each other.

I’m going first, before Laura beats me to it. I was interviewed for a piece on rural entrepreneurs in the Daily Oklahoman by Tom Walker (I2E): http://su.pr/2yB29Y
And that was picked up by Inc.com, as “Business Tips from Small-Town USA”:

Very cool to see word spread about rural entrepreneurs!

    Becky,

Inc,com? Wow. You must be so happy that your interview is getting that kind of increased visibility. What an important niche you are working in—rural communities need the help you are providing so much.

    Okay, mine:

    1. Personal: Daughter got accepted as an Ada Comstock Scholar at Smith College, Northampton, MA. Which means a full scholarship! She is already gone (Seattle to MA is a long way—whining a little here), and starts classes next month. Theatre Arts major.

    2. Business: SavvyWordPress.com, our WordPress membership site is up and running and we have our first members. It’s been a very time-intensive project and it’s just such a relief that it’s taking its first steps.

Thanks for giving us a chance to share our happy moments.

Judy, thank you. :) And congratulations to your daughter on the big honor. And again to you for getting your membership site up and running! Yay!

Hi Becky, congrats on the interview :-) Great to see your word being spread.

My week saw me sharing a poem about the value of writing poems (to help us through the ups and downs of life); opening a virtual space for people to share some writing over the next six weeks; enjoying seeing them starting to arrive, settle in and begin to let their words… dance; and taking the lid off a new site, The Mid Life Journal (www.themidlifejournal.com), from which I hope many good things will flow, for me and for others.

Thanks for letting me recap on my week and remembering the milestone moments!

Too cool about Inc magazine story!! Congrats, Becky!

For me, our 9-year-old daughter went off to summer camp for the first time. We haven’t heard anything, so I assume it was a success… another one of those growing milestones.

Thank you, Paul. And cheers to your daughter. We’ll say that no news is good news.

Congrats Becky on the interview’s success! And congrats to Judy reaching two huge milestones! I’m so happy to have found your blog. Your mission really speaks to me. So here are mine:

Personal: My 16 yr old daughter got her driver’s license today. My 19 yr old son started his first “real” job(i.e., non-food-service)at a bank this week. We had 2 accident-free days potty training the twins.

Business: I registered two domains and started building two websites for projects that I’ve been scheming over for years. And I designed a couple of AMAZING logos for them too! I’m sharing this journey on my personal website.

Laura, thanks for cheering us all on. That’s the true spirit of the Brag Basket. Congratulations on those milestones, both personal and professional.

Wow! What a great group to join in this week! And Becky – thanks for ‘inventing’ the brag basket for us all to share. I am proud to join with personal family accomplishments for the week: Thursday marked son Josh’s 3 month ‘birthday’ – that would be his re-birth 3 month mark of surviving a heart attack at 17 years age. And then the next day Friday – turned 18! Quite proud moments in our family!! We are blessed to have him with us!

Laura, I didn’t invent the Brag Basket. I just brought it online. The idea came from BPW. :) And a standing ovation for Josh!
