Emily Newman-Edwards sent this great news via email:
“I would like to brag about the Town of Grantsville, MD. Local non-profit, Garrett Trails, was awarded $50,000 from our US Congressman to do a feasibility study on a trail to connect our town of 842 people into the Great Allegheny Passage, which with the C&O Canal Towpath is one of the longest contiguous trail systems in the country. The trail would also be part of the Eastern Continental Divide Loop, a 150-mile trail in our county and add a whole new dimension to our tourism industry.
We have been having a small renaissance of sort the last decade and getting this trail system will ensure that continues.”
I love all the action we’re seeing on trails connections! Congratulations!

Also, big congrats to our friend Marc A. Pitman, who is celebrating the 3 year anniversary of his #FollowUpFriday series. Every week, he sends an email to remind people to follow up on something important before the week is over. It’s a small thing, but makes a big difference. Cheers, Marc!

My friend Katy Kassian sent this story via email:
“Hi Becky-
Big Win! We finally got the state agencies to take notice of little bitty Regan- pop 44. We hosted our own Main Street summit and gathered our crowd. 20+ people came plus the state folks- six agencies in all! We had a tour of our town, a listening session and tossed good ideas around. Looks like a small athletic center will be in the works. We also asked the state to provide hard copies of the resources available to businesses and towns through the state- absolutely necessary since the mayor is 79 and not online at all! So now the few business owners know where they can find help.
Katy”
Woohoo! It pays to bring people to your place and ask them for exactly what you need.
