I have a little Friday brag for you, but I tend to write a lot so I thought I’d share here instead! I am from a very small town in northern California… Biggs. I currently live in the next town over but Biggs has my heart. About 9 months ago my husband and I bought an abandoned 1905 hotel that had been sitting unloved for at least 30 years. We are not hoteliers, and were frankly shocked they accepted our rather low offer for the property. It’s taken months to even clean out the 12,500 sf building which we intend to use as commercial boutique spaces, along with small venues for events, etc. Well the exciting part is that I have taken over as coordinator of our local volunteer group, and we will be hosting our first large event (in our very small town population 1700) on Halloween! We have arranged for the streets to be blocked off for a trunk or treat, and we are hosting a Haunted Hotel for the community in our building! It still looks rather haunted so it’s not much of a stretch lol! It’s just wonderful when a plan lines up and you are able to use what you have to generate a bit of buzz within a community that has been dormant for many many years! Thanks for the encouragement on your page! There are many of us out there searching for a bit of knowledge and help to build up our small business community and are not sure where to start! That’s my brag… Happy Friday!
I’m also including a link to our facebook page so that you can see some images of where it came from to where we are now… and with so far to still go! It’s all very exciting! https://www.facebook.com/thecoloniabuilding/

The Wall Economic Development Corporation and the Wall Chamber of Commerce partnered to host the first “Wall in the Fall” event Sunday, October 2nd. The goal of the event was to bring community members together for an afternoon of family fun and also encourage downtown, local shopping. The event was a huge success! Several businesses volunteered to host a booth and sponsor the event. We had a live band, games, food and overall family fun! We even had several tourists stop by and ask if they could join! It brought life to our community during the “shoulder season.” “Wall in the Fall” was a huge success and we hope it will continue for years to come!
