The Brag Basket is open! This one is for December 4-6, 2015. Bring your good news, big or small, to share with everyone.
What can you do in the Brag Basket?
- introduce yourself
- share some great news from this week
- congratulate a friend
- applaud for each other
- confess your undying love for rural places
How do you join in?

Don’t like to brag? Just share some good news for yourself or a friend.
Just don’t make it an ad. I delete the ads that people stick in here. If you talk more about the people involved than the things, you’ll be fine.
It’s a conversation with friends. So jump in. And remember to cheer for each other.

One of our active readers and friends Nora Nikkel sent this encouraging story by email:
“This year our Chamber announced about 6 weeks ago that they were no longer doing the annual Christmas Parade and festivities and that they were moving the tree lighting off Main St. We merchants on Main were just devastated, but we got to work and quickly put together a celebration. Of course it was too late to book carriage rides and other professionals, but some of my workers volunteered their choirs to do caroling. We also had darling miniature horses decked in beautiful Christmas regalia. After they all walked the streets singing and being escorted by the horses and fife and drum group they did a 45 min concert in our yard. Then we walked across the street and lit the Main Street tree, had candlelight and sang carols. We did a tribute/thank you to our Police Dept and presented them with a beautiful wreath that they can hang each year on their door. The customers thought the day was so fresh and loved it completely! The sales were mind boggling
and we merchants are all excited about next year and what can happen if we have all year to plan ( and it gave all of Main Street a real boost!)”
Good job, Nora, and all the Main Street merchants!
