Congratulate someone in the Brag Basket

Welcome to the Brag Basket, our tradition of sharing. The basket is always free and open all weekend, this one October 11-13, 2013. What good news will you add to the brag basket?

Don’t hold back because of that word, “brag.” When you hold back, you hide your good news and accomplishments that might inspire others. Even though I call this the Brag Basket, it’s not really about bragging. It’s about sharing.

What can you do in the Brag Basket?

  • introduce yourself
  • share some great news from this week
  • congratulate a friend
  • laugh about something wonderful that you tried that failed
  • applaud for each other

Speak up and add yourself or another deserving soul in the comments. It lets you meet each other a bit. Reading each others’ stories brings us a bit closer to being a community.

How does it work? You write a comment on this post. We all cheer, and everyone feels great.

This is not an ad. (I delete the ads.) If you talk more about the people involved than the things, you’ll be fine.

It’s a conversation with friends. So jump in. And remember to cheer for each other.

I want to applaud two members of our email community. Triona Walsh of Roscrea, Co Tipperary, Ireland, wrote in to share a challenge she was having. Larry Cope of Sonora, Tuolumne County, California, jumped in with an offer of help. They’re talking now by email. This is exactly the spirit of small towns that I love! Cheers to Triona and Larry!

Also, I want to send cheers to my friend Scott Townsend, who just finished his first week of work with ABB. He sounds very excited, and I know ABB is lucky to have him on their team. Congratulations!

I’m not sure who ABB is… but congratulations Scott.

My brag – finally reaching the point in my life where I say, “I’d rather be at the gym.” Not all the time but it was a ‘wow’ moment when I said that the other day.

Also, back to the gym this week after giving myself a week to heal.

And one more brag! Just had annual review and it was the best one I’ve received in 12+ years working there. Lots of praise I’m not used to hearing.

Todd, big congratulations to you! It was such a pleasure to spend time with you and Nanna J this month!

Scott’s ABB is in the measurement of gas in pipelines business, I understand.

Wow, two mentions of Sonora in one basket! I’m following up on the Mural-In-A-Day project, which was completed a few weeks ago at the Sonora Farmer’s Market. Over 50 artists volunteered to complete an 8′ x 24′ mural over the span of two days. This followed months of fund raising and planning by the mural committee and some very specialized know-how by local muralist Judy Grossman. The full story is at http://www.mural-in-a-day-sonora.org/.

Greg, I LOVE how Sonora came together for this! What a great project, and a great tribute. Congratulations to Sonora!

Howdy!
