Do you know what you need to do to grow your business in the next 12 months? You’ve probably thought about your big ideas, big goals, and your dreams. But how’s the foundation? That’s what I want to work on with you.
Let’s put a solid foundation under your business for a prosperous 2013.
Back a few years, I wrote 4 ways to jumpstart your small biz in 2010. It’s high time to update it for today’s business and help get your business on a better foundation for the coming year.
In cooperation with EntreLab, I’m presenting an updated webinar on this topic on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, 7:00 PM – 8:15 PM CST. We’ll go through four ways to get your business better positioned for performance. Throwing out the old model of a business plan, we’ll work through the Simplified Business Plan and Simplified Marketing Plan. I’ll also be adding some of the best alternatives to business plans. We’ll also improve your record-keeping systems, and give you a way to stay focused on the big picture all year long.
Becky started Small Biz Survival in 2006 to share rural business and community building stories and ideas with other small town business people. She and her husband have a small cattle ranch and are lifelong entrepreneurs. Becky is an international speaker on small business and rural topics.
I still remember your 2010 article. We were just getting done with the great recession :-)
One thing I liked the most was your section about “Mesh this with your daily habits. This is where you take action”. I actually did something similar with my 2013 plan. I created a weekly planner and blocked time for each project. Otherwise, the daily grind and distractions of running a company can prevent one from focusing and accomplishing the important goals.
Happy new year!
Marco, thank you so much for being part of this community all this time, and happy new year! I agree about meshing your goals into your daily work. Weekly planners are great for that; they give you enough perspective to work your projects into the schedule realistically.

Howdy!
