Be thankful in the Brag Basket

By Small Biz Survival

The Brag Basket is our tradition of sharing. The basket is always free and open all weekend, this one Nov 22-25, 2012. It’s Thanksgiving week in the U.S., so this is a great time to share some thankfulness. Have some good news this week? Put it in the Brag Basket.

Don’t hold back because of that word, “brag.” When you hold back, you hide your good news and accomplishments that might inspire others. Even though I call this the Brag Basket, it’s not really about bragging. It’s about sharing.

What can you do in the Brag Basket?

  • introduce yourself
  • share some great news from this week
  • congratulate a friend
  • laugh about something wonderful that you tried that failed
  • applaud for each other

Speak up and add yourself or another deserving soul in the comments. It lets you meet each other a bit. Reading each others’ stories brings us a bit closer to being a community.

How does it work? You write a comment on this post. We all cheer, and everyone feels great.

This is not an ad. (I delete the ads.) If you talk more about the people involved than the things, you’ll be fine.

It’s a conversation with friends. So jump in. And remember to cheer for each other.

Thankful for a successful formula 1 weekend in Bastrop. Our office coordinated a F1 task force that included local businesses, hotels, RV parks, main street program and downtown business alliance. We met every week leading up to race weekend and put together swag bags for race fans staying in Bastrop, hosted a welcome party on Main St and provided shuttle service to and from the track. The TF sold ads in a brochure to help pay for free local shuttle service around town and a great time was had by all. Our guest were very appreciative and said they would return because of our hospitality. Amazing what happens when we work together. Happy Thanksgiving from Bastrop Texas.

Paul, I have to agree! And this is a good chance to remind everyone to shift your shopping to local small businesses this season. You’ll find smaller crowds and make an investment in your community.

This is great idea, being thankful in such a unique way. Living a grateful life surpassess almost everything. Its even more powerful to brag the attitude of being grateful. What else is more meaningful than saying thank you by heart?
