The Brag Basket is our tradition of sharing. The basket is always free and open all weekend, this one Sept 7-9, 2012. Have some good news this week? Put it in the Brag Basket. I’m out of the digital world this weekend, so please speak up and cheer for each other.

Don’t hold back because of that word, “brag.” When you hold back, you hide your good news and accomplishments that might inspire others. Even though I call this the Brag Basket, it’s not really about bragging. It’s about sharing.
What can you do in the Brag Basket?
- introduce yourself
- share some great news from this week
- congratulate a friend
- laugh about something wonderful that you tried that failed
- applaud for each other
Speak up and add yourself or another deserving soul in the comments. It lets you meet each other a bit. Reading each others’ stories brings us a bit closer to being a community.

This week I pushed back to a client that had a bad travel experience and as a knee-jerk response wanted to fire the travel agency. My suggestion (which I am a virtual assistant and she is one of my clients and I perform as an executive assistant for her) was to talk with the travel agency, ask for a new agent, rather than just throw it all out, particularly since she has extensive travel coming up over the next 2 months that the existing travel agency has executed for her. My pushback was to offer a voice of reason, rather than just be a “yes-man” to her emotionally distraught response. I’m waiting to hear her feedback and I know this may have been risky…may even lose her as a client, but just really thought her decision would cause more harm for her company than good.
