The Brag Basket is our tradition of sharing. The basket is always free and open all weekend, this one April 20-22, 2012. Have some good news this week? Put it in the Brag Basket.

Don’t hold back because of that word, “brag.” When you hold back, you hide your good news and accomplishments that might inspire others. Even though I call this the Brag Basket, it’s not really about bragging. It’s about sharing.
What can you do in the Brag Basket?
- introduce yourself
- share some great news from this week
- congratulate a friend
- laugh about something wonderful that you tried that failed
- applaud for each other
Speak up and add yourself or another deserving soul in the comments. It lets you meet each other a bit. Reading each others’ stories brings us a bit closer to being a community.
How does it work? You write a comment on this post. We all cheer, and everyone feels great.
This is not an ad. (I delete the ads.) It’s a conversation with friends. So jump in. And remember to cheer for each other.

This week, I must brag on the people of Northwest Oklahoma. In the worst of times, we pull together. I particularly want to salute Valarie and Angela Case from Alva who are volunteering today in Woodward, Oklahoma, to help with tornado relief.

I’ll jump in here since I’ve got something to brag about. Some of you may know Greg Falken from the 140 Conference in Sonora, CA last year. He and I have pooled our industrious resources and have launched our new business this week. Our website, Facebook and Google+ pages, and Twitter account went live on Monday. We have been in the planning stages for months (mostly due to the demands of our existing businesses) but are now ready to roll. Come visit us at http://www.sierraonlineservices.com or join us on one of the social media sites. We’re excited!

I want to brag on Becky: one of her photographs of one of the regional tornadoes was THE cover shot of the local newspaper. (As in, it is the WHOLE cover page.) http://tinyurl.com/7bdyzv9 (Scroll down the page & look on the left side–it’s kind of small, but that is a photograph Becky took of a tornado!)

May I brag on Branson, MO celebrating their 100th birthday. It is truly a story of a small town getting larger via tourism.

I want to compliment Dana Neuts for writing and sharing content on a website called “I Love Kent, Washington.” She focuses on local stories in Kent, WA. I’m proud of her. What started as a local blog evolved into a hyperlocal website and business. http://www.ilovekent.net

Linda E., big congrats to you and Greg! Wishing you great success!
Maesz, thanks, Mom! :) Since I get my paper online, I really did go down to the office and buy myself a paper copy to keep.
Miss Dazey, you absolutely may brag! A big birthday salute to Branson, MO!
M.Anderson, thanks for sharing Dana’s efforts. Congratulations on your accomplishments and your local advocacy, Dana!

I just gave a talk at a BarCamp last Saturday, and will now be giving a modified version of it at a local conference for high school and college students next week. Speaking was super cool and I hope to do a lot more of it in the coming months! :)

Chris, congratulations! I know you put in great preparation, because I saw you worrying over it on Twitter. :)

Hello there Becky! So, I rarely brag, because I’m my own worst critic, but I have something very exciting to share.
First, some back history. Though we have known each other for awhile, you probably didn’t know that I used to draw, a lot. Actually, I would consider them doodles, and my teachers considered them a waste of time. Anyway, through all this doodling I came up with a bunch of characters and for the last 20 some years, they’ve been settling dust. Until now.
On April 1st, I launched a new blog, Andy and Trout. It’s an online comic strip based on these characters. Passion projects are fun, but they also are incredibly frightening. You never know if they will work or not.
So, please say hello to Andy and Trout: http://www.andyandtrout.com
One of my, if not my proudest, achievements! :)

Dave, I’m so proud and excited for your new project and for rekindling an old passion!
