The Brag Basket is our tradition of sharing. The basket is always free and open all weekend, this one September 30-October 2, 2011.

Even though I call this the Brag Basket, it’s not really about bragging. It’s about sharing.
What can you do in the Brag Basket?
- introduce yourself
- share some great news from this week
- congratulate a friend
- laugh about something wonderful that you tried that failed
- applaud for each other
Don’t hold back because of that word, “brag.” When you hold back, you hide your good news and accomplishments that might inspire others.
Speak up and add yourself or another deserving soul in the comments. We all cheer, and everyone feels great. It lets you meet each other a bit. Reading each others’ stories brings us a bit closer to being a community.
How does it work? You write a comment on this post, email me, or catch me on any social network and share your thought.
This is not an ad. (I delete the ads.) It’s a conversation with friends. So jump in. And remember to cheer for each other.

The rural small business blog. We talk about small town business, with how-to articles, especially on social media marketing and making your community a better place. We use this “author” for announcements and other things you’ll want to know.

I have not made it a habit of participating in social media, but I’m working on changing that. My name’s Jared, and I’ve been following this blog for a while. Probably about a year, which is about as long as I’ve had my own business working with book collectors.
This has been an incredibly successful week for me. Monday I established a number of strategic alliances which I anticipate being very useful. Tuesday I added a new service line to my offerings: working with small law firms to help them optimize their libraries and research procedures. On Thursday one of the professors in the MS program I graduated from expressed interest in giving his students access to an actual library system (which I’ll provide gratis). The last is particularly thrilling, because I feel that there is a very real gap in graduates’ knowledge that this will go a ways towards closing.

Jared

Brag Basket ~ I like it! Great idea. I’m a huge believer in small town entrepreneurship & agree it’s the thing that’ll boost small towns & help them thrive. I live/work in a small town, located right smack in middle of the Michigan mitten – Mt. Pleasant. As a PR/marketing consultant & writer, I work mostly with the many small biz we have in our town, currently doing lots of social media coaching, helping small biz leverage to power & value of social media as way to reach out & grow audience, client-base. One other thing we’re abt to launch, together with some other mid-Mich based bloggers is a tweetup & Mich-based bloggers tweetchat with focus on how we can all use our blogs & audiences to help further our local communities & our state. Hoping to kick off first tweetchat in the next week. Looking forward to staying connected with Brag Basket, now that I know about it & will share it with others in my networks. Thx for the opportunity to connect & learn from others in small towns!!!
