What has added color to your world this week? What wonderful news will you choose to share? The basket is open all weekend, from February 18-20, 2011.
Colorful Baskets by Miss Sydney Marie |
Even though I call this the Brag Basket, it’s not really about bragging. It’s about sharing. It’s here so you can introduce yourself, share some good news, or congratulate a friend.
Speak up and add yourself or another deserving soul in the comments. We all cheer, and everyone feels great. It lets you meet each other a bit. Reading each others’ stories brings us a bit closer to being a community.
How does it work? You write a comment on this post, email me, tweet me, or comment on Facebook. You tell something great about your week, or you give applause to someone who did good stuff this week. Or you celebrate something wonderful that you tried that failed.
This is not an ad. (I delete the ads.) It’s a conversation with friends. So jump in. And remember to cheer for each other.

Last fall I reconnected with an old aquaintance on Linked In. After a some email chats about our respective consulting practices, we decided to meet for lunch to talk shop about the work we do. Fast forward to the past week, we decided to combine forces and collaborate on a prospect proposal that uses both our skills and experience in new ways. The proposal was presented this week. As an independent consultant, I haven’t had a lot of opportunities to collaborate with other sole practioners. We’re excited about the opportunity to learn from each other and to have some “backup” for our businesses.

Meg Fowler has always been a person that makes me laugh since I added her on Twitter in the very early days. She has the smartest brain and speaks her mind eloquently and honestly. She is a phenomenal copywriter as well. I really like her as a person and she always brings the real which is hard to find in the noise.
Grateful for the laughs. :)

I’d like to brag on @chriscree who launched http://emmanuelpress.com/ this week.

Kudos to Jared Loftus, an entrepreneur from Baton Rouge, was chosen for one of the Startup buses. Entrepreneurs on a bus with 48 hrs to launch a business on the way to SxSW.
He owns the wildly successful Ninja Snowballs and Taco de Paco food trucks, and I’m excited to see what he & his bus mates come up with & pitch in Austin. Proud to know him.

I’m very happy to announce that the 140 Character Conference in Des Moines Iowa is officially happening! May 9 at the Stoner Theatre. We are currently looking for speakers and tickets go on sale next week. http://desmoines.140conf.com

Amy, thanks for sharing about Jared. We’ll all be watching to see what craziness comes out of the bus.
Deb, congratulations to you and the whole Iowa crew!

I want to brag on someone unconventional. She’s a mother, blogger, and now underemployed. She is a sex blogger. Voted Best Sex blog in St. Louis area, her blog shares sex advice as well as bringing sex out into the public eye.
I’m bragging on her for reaching outside her comfort zone, oh yeah she has a huge leap to make here, and reach out to me and others in the social media community to help her grow her blogging and advice into a income.
Oddly enough, for being what might seem an adventurous soul, she’s shy, reserved, and mostly unfamiliar with social networking sites and tools. Over lunch the other day, she learned she could actually host her own tweetup!
You can find this young lady on Twitter as @tbk365, or on her blog. Warning: NSFW.

Well this week it was two deaths of old music friends that brought color to my life > So sad to see they have passed away, and yet reflecting on their lives brought vividly to mind that each of them lived life being so fully themselves and triumphed totally in the unique messages they sent forth – One was an experimental composer who I had known since 1953 – she inspired by her example of uncompromising devotion to Sound. The other was my music guru in India, Bhimsen Joshi who was a Bharat Ratna – “Jewel Of India” -the nation’s highest honor. Because of the lives they chose to lead they tell us all: “LIFE IS GOOD” – I am thankful that I hold them both in my heart.
Wayne
and Becky – Thanks for this great spot to visit with oneself, to count blessings, to appreciate all that life brings our way.

What a great week we’re having in the Brag Basket!
Todd, nice choice. Cheers to TBK for reaching out to others and learning.
Wayne, thank you for sharing their lives here, too, part of our community. You know and have known some truly amazing people.
