Even though I call this the Brag Basket, it’s not really about bragging. It’s about sharing. I started this so you can introduce yourself, share some good news, or congratulate a friend.

The basket is open all weekend, from December 24-26, 2010. Merry Christmas! Share some joy!
Speak up and add yourself or another deserving soul in the comments. We all cheer, and everyone feels great. It lets you meet each other a bit. Reading each others’ stories brings us a bit closer to being a community.
How does it work? You write a comment on this post, email me, tweet me, or comment on Facebook. You tell something great about your week, or you give applause to someone who did good stuff this week. Or you celebrate something wonderful that you tried that failed.
This is not an ad. (I delete the ads.) It’s a conversation with friends. So jump in. And remember to cheer for each other.

I’ve always been an optimist. Even when the glass is empty, it’s bound to rain just any minute. While I think this gives me a strategic advantage over many people when out comes to business, I also think that this characteristic is not *that* unusual. There are a couple of people that I believe posses this trait to the fullest extent, & who I look to as examples of doing what it takes to get through the tough spots, but to do so at such a level to bring light, energy, & infectious enthusiasm to a lot of us who have gotten to know them, either in person, or as friendly faces in various online communities. Unfortunately, I’ve not had the opportunity to net either of these women in person, though I know that someday, somehow, I absolutely will. I have very much enjoyed knowing & facebooking, & poking, & tweeting with Ann Miller (@AnnOhio) for at least the last three years, probably more. While I’ve known OF Catherine Maher (@WickedStepMom) for maybe almost as long, I’ve been able to get to know more about her through facebook & twitter, & yes, poking also, over the last month or two. Ann & Cate are both examples to me of how to face daily life, with its great ups, & its terrible downs, with grace & humor, knowing that we’ll be stronger & better for it on the other side. Thanks ladies!

Troy, thank you. I know Ann well, and she is a great example of someone who faces life well. Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year to you all.
