I can hardly wait for the Brag Basket

By Small Biz Survival

Even though I call this the Brag Basket, it’s not really about bragging. It’s about sharing. I started this so you can introduce yourself, share some good news, or congratulate a friend.

The basket is open all weekend, from July 9-11, 2010.

Speak up and add yourself or another deserving soul in the comments. We all cheer, and everyone feels great. It lets you meet each other a bit. Reading each others’ stories brings us a bit closer to being a community.

How does it work? You write a comment on this post, email me, tweet me, or comment on Facebook. You tell something great about your week, or you give applause to someone who did good stuff this week. Or you celebrate something wonderful that you tried that failed.

This is not an ad. (I delete the ads.) It’s a conversation with friends. So jump in. And remember to cheer for each other.

I’m going to start this weekend off bragging ON Becky since she did not do it for herself yet. She has had a very special week to brag about with at least 2 very cool accomplishments that I know of:
    1. Professional accomplishment: She has been invited to speak at the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) national conference this September. Quite a compliment to her respect in the economic development world!! Way to go Becky! It’s time the ‘world’ knew what the rest of us already knew – that you are a renowned expert in many ED subjects and topics!
    2. On the personal development side: Becky has been walking each day – through OK heat and rain I might add – and just made 4 miles today!! She even inspired me to get back with my fitness goals. So Becky – do something special for yourself to celebrate this weekend!

I’d like to give a personal shout out to my wife, Lane, who got signed to a voiceover agent here in LA this week. Given that only about 1 out of 100 people’s submitted demos get listened to by agencies, and then prospective hires have to pass an audition, this is an almost Herculean feat. I’m very proud of her, and this definitely made my week.

hey Becky – great news about the EDC conference and walking 4 miles!

I’m in the play Our Town this weekend and excited about it. Community Theatre is a great time – and a fantastic way to network as well.

    Becky–

I’m using my “bragging” rights to congratulate you on your new speaking gig — and your fitness stick-to-it-ness.

I want to brag about my friend Lee Watts (WattsPerformance.com), who’s an uber-trainer to top athletes and has inspired me to rededicate toward my version of peak performance.

    Have a great weekend!

Deb, thanks! And congratulations to you, not just on the play, but also on the hard work you’ve done to reach up to the national level with speaking. I’m very proud of all you have done.

Daria, thank you, also. And congrats to you and Lee for inspiration and re-dedication.

Double CONGRATS Becky! First for speaking at IEDC, but mainly for earning the invitation with hard work, service to others, and continuing to grow your business interests.

Is the IEDC the one you didn’t want to talk about until finalized?

What a great idea. I hate I missed the “open period” for the “bragging basket.” I love your idea of lifting someone else up.

We can (and should) do that every day.

There are just so many people in our lives that give us an incredible lift just by being with us from time to time.

    Keep up this work.
