The basket I forgot to put a title on

By Small Biz Survival

Every week, I open a new Basket. I call it the Brag Basket, but it’s not really about bragging. It’s about sharing. I started this so you can introduce yourself, share some good news about yourself, or congratulate a friend.

Speak up and add yourself or another deserving soul in the comments. We all cheer, and everyone feels great. It lets you meet each other a bit. Reading each others’ stories brings us a bit closer to being a community.

This particular basket is open from Feb. 5-7, 2010.

How does it work? You write a comment on this post. You tell something great about your week, or you give plaudits to someone who did good stuff this week. Or you celebrate a terrific failure. It’s not an ad; it’s a conversation with friends. So jump in. And remember to cheer for each other!

salehop left this comment on last week’s basket, so I’ve moved it here:

I am very excited that my first round of testing for our new shopping local website was great! We still have some work to finish up but should be ready for launch in mid-March, 2010. If all goes well…local stores everywhere will have a great platform to connect with online shoppers and pull them into their front door!

I was on the receiving end of a delightful phone call yesterday. I had commented on a friend’s blog. Didn’t know he was looking for full-time employment. On a side note, I mentioned a reputation management site I really like. He went there, registered, put in a search term for his specialties, and within hours, he was contacted by a firm looking for someone with just his skills.

He interviewed the next day, was offered the job and accepted. He called to thank me. It was just a crazy coincidence but I thought, “Wow. Another example of the power of social media.”

I am so happy for him. I could feel his huge smile while we were talking.

I had a few other wins personally this week, but this had to be the most satisfying one!

    Jacqueline emailed in her comment:

This week three great things happened:

As part of my role as Executive Director for our Downtown Network:
I sent in my bio to the Arkansas Governors Conference on Tourism, which made the reality that I am a speaker become, well, real. http://www.arkansas.com/governors-conference/

ESDN Board – FINALLY – got their committee meeting dates figured out and they are scheduled for the entire year. Yeah for persuading them for a YEAR.

And in my personal consultant role I gained two clients and fired one. Empowering, gratifying, and rewarding.

    Congrats times three, Jacqueline!

So, I have been struggling a bit on developing my home based business as a graphic design specialist and decided to sit down and have a conversation with my best friend just to see if there is something I am missing. Well, out of that conversation, it finally hit me! I don’t know if it was divine intervention or what but, I found my niche and I believe this is only the beginning for Diamonte Designs.

The lesson I would like to pass to anyone reading: If you’re ever at a place where you are in doubt of yourself or anything in your environment, sit down and talk about it with someone you respect and I believe you can realign yourself with your desires and goals. Only great things can come from it!

Many blessings to all and just remember to put you first :-)

Diamonte, congratulations on finding your start. And I agree with your advice!
