Each Friday, I open the Brag Basket for the weekend. This weekend, I’m in transit. So I’m asking you to take the lead and cheer for each other.
This is designed as a fun place for you to share your projects and accomplishments. But you can also cheer for other people, give shout outs, congratulate, and even give someone a well-deserved pat on the back.
Think that bragging is a bad thing? Read how Tony explains the Brag Basket.
The Brag Basket is open for everyone, whether from a small town, a big city, or anywhere in the world. (But it’s true that I love small town brags!)
Will you put something in the Brag Basket this week? You can brag on a friend, your own project, yourself, others, anything! Make it personal, and not just an ad. You don’t need special permission, and you don’t have to be from a small town. Just leave a comment right here. There’s no deadline, so you can brag anytime during the weekend, and I’ll open a fresh Brag Basket each Friday.

I’d like to brag this week on two of my twitter and sbbuzz colleagues who have been putting together a phenomenal podcast series called the “Bella Buzz.”
@desireescales and @joemagennis put it together and do an extraordinary job, talking about small business topics. I guess I have to brag 2 part, because they covered @bradfordshimp and I’s new venture http://ideaanglers.com this week.

I’d like to brag about our due diligence team for our 2009 Top Small Workplaces project with The Wall Street Journal. Four people completed 200 interviews with employees, advisors and customers at 35 companies in a month timeframe, all with many other pressing duties. Well done, folks!

I’d like to brag on Becky McCray for providing the gentle nudge I needed to create an e-book out of a series of writing articles posted at Small Biz Survival. Her support and enthusiasm has inspired me to create a 2nd informational “how to” e-book: Bring Catalog and Web Product Descriptions to Life. I just posted the e-book to my website last night!

Finally, I’m going to add something.
I’ve been reading this blog for about one year. I know our city doesn’t qualify as a rural small town (except in the way a majority of the people think), but I’ve gained much from the topics discussed here. One thing in particular is the importance of tooting your own horn.
Through the discussions here, I’ve become more focused on how I can promote my business. So, here goes:
“Hodgepodge makes this year’s national list of top 50 Retail Stars by Home Accents Today.
The annual list published by Home Accents Today in May honors Hodgepodge as the only retailer representing the state of Tennessee. Retailers that made the cut to be named on the list were chosen for demonstrating a knack for merchandising, staying true to their uniquely individual style and being a vital member of their community.”
The preceding quote was taken from the press release I intend to send-out today (another baby step in the right direction!).
Thanks for all of your encouragement.
Best wishes to all of you brave entrepreneurs!
Paige

I don’t know if this is allowed, but I’d like to brag on myself a little bit? I’ve been reading this blog for about 4 months, after having been trying to expand our business into new venues.
We opened a webstore on eBay over 2 yrs ago and have been going to trade shows with our product(s) for about the same time. Last year we started our own webstore and this spring we added Etsy and Bonanzle to our venues. I’ve learned so MUCH in the last 4 months, you have no idea!
I’ve spent the last 4 months blogging, networking, reading… and tweeting only recently. We’ve had a lot more hits on our blog and our web pages as a whole since I started using Twitter. It’s been a great boon to me.
Anyway, I digress. Bonanzle had a notice out that you could submit a Booth Optimization Project article to help people who are starting out in online business or perhaps to help the veteran needing a nudge in the right direction.
I was chosen this week to have my article published on the Bonanzle blog for the B.O.P. I was so honored I could hardly speak. Now I’ve won a copy of Quickbooks that you were giving away. Will miracles never cease!
I feel so honored to be among giants in our fields and to be so welcomed by everyone I “meet” in the blogging world. Thank you for letting me share my article here!

I’d like to brag on Bismarck, ND for being selected as one of the top places to retire.
I live in SD, so I think it’s pretty cool that a report finally recognized that winter weather shouldn’t automatically mean a community is a bad place to live.
To I heard about the news at the Strom Center blog. They have a link to the CBS news video if you want to watch.

Mike, I love it! Maybe other people don’t expect it, but we know; there is more to life than the big cities on the coast! Thanks for sharing.

To add to all those awesome brags, I’d like to brag about a fantastic find that I have made. Digital Lizard (http://www.digitallizard.com/index.php) is a print company that has a really neat system that is saving me time and money! I’ve been able to create a branded online store from which all my print materials directly. Outstanding service Digital Lizard!
