Get inspired by the Brag Basket

By Small Biz Survival

Each week, I open the Brag Basket. It’s designed as a fun place for you to share your projects and accomplishments. But you can also cheer for other people, give shout outs, congratulate, and even give someone a well-deserved pat on the back.

The Brag Basket is open for everyone, whether from a small town, a big city, or anywhere in the world. (But it’s true that I love small town brags!)

Will you put something in the Brag Basket this week? You can brag on a friend, your own project, yourself, others, anything! You don’t need special permission, and you don’t have to be from a small town. Just leave a comment right here. There’s no deadline, so you can brag anytime during the weekend, and I’ll open a fresh Brag Basket each Friday.

My brag for this week is that Dane Carlson has started his own weekly Readers’ Brag Basket! How cool!

I want to brag on two people:

Brett McKay (of Tulsa), the man behind artofmanliness.com, is doing very well in the weblogawards.com voting for best cultural blog. If you have not read his blog or voted I encourage you to do both. http://2008.weblogawards.org/polls/best-culture-blog/

Derrick Parkhurst of okccoco.com is having his open house for his coworking space next Saturday. I’ve been really impressed with how fast Derrick has gotten this project off the ground.

Becky, your brag basket is becoming a great way to look back on the week and remember the little successes.

I made my first face-to-face contacts with people I met online through my social media efforts. Randy Richmond (sustainableprocess.com) had commented on my Sustainable Marketing Blog. I had answered Will Johnston’s (growandmake.com) question on LinkedIn. Both Randy and Will are savvy sustainability professionals here in Portland, Oregon, and I am better for having met them.

Peter, that is *exactly* why I do open a Brag Basket every week!

Congratulations on making those face-to-face connections!

I want to brag that my partner & I are finally having things fall into place for our new biz – we got a (basic) website up, have copyright paperwork going, are finishing designs, and have several posts in the works for our idea! Massage Therapy & Motorcycles. (as I grin, because I’m now well conditioned to seeing the “Wha???” look on a persons face when I say this!)

Thank you for letting me brag here! This feels nice to toot my own horn & check out other cool stuff!

Hey Becky – I have a couple of things for this week…

First, my friend and colleague, Jarkko Laine had his blog mentioned in a NY Times article today – http://tinyurl.com/7dnuof.

Second, I never got to come by here at the end of the year but I wanted to brag that I am REALLY glad that I came across your site (via Chris Brogan) in ’08 and look forward to learning more from you in 2009.

    Have a great weekend!

““Through his own compelling story and piles of great advice, Jonathan Fields shows how you can pay the bills by pursuing your passion. If you’re tired of following the herd, and yearn to go your own way, you need to read this wise, inspiring book. Now.” – Daniel H. Pink, New York Times bestselling author of A Whole New Mind and The Adventures Of Johnny Bunko

My friend @Jonathonfields has written a new book called “Career Renegade: How to Make a Great Living Doing What You Love” http://www.careerrenegade.com/ which I have read the first chapter of and it is Amazing! The Intro & chapter 1 are the free download http://www.careerrenegade.com/files/CR-Intro.pdf

Jonathon also has a very well written blog called “Awake @ The Wheel” http://is.gd/f50P

He practices what he preaches, inspires everyone around him, is a great father, and is my friend.

Becky- I love this post! We do not alwyas take time out of our busy days to tell those that make our lives better what they mean. Thank you for giving us a format to do so!

I want to brag on my friend and business partner, Mike Sansone. I am not the most organized person, my brain and body sometimes go in two different directions, and he puts up with me.

No matter what project I am working on, he is there to support me and ensure that my clients get the best experience possible.

And, he does all this while still running his own business at Converstations.com.

I learn so much from him everyday-I am a better speaker, writer, presenter, and friend because of him!
