Decide to brag this week

By Small Biz Survival

brag basketEach Friday, I open the brag basket as a fun place to give someone a pat on the back, brag, or promote yourself and your projects.

Tony Katz explained why this matters:

It’s ok to have success, it’s ok to have great things happen in your life and it is ok to talk about those things. Embrace the good things that happen and the work that it took to get the good things to happen. Then, focus on more good things, and make them happen. The vision is only achieved through the action.

Last week, Mark bragged on their blog re-design, and Sharon has a new theme that’s working! Shashi had a great event to share, too.

Will you put something in the Brag Basket this week?

You can brag on a friend, your own project, yourself, others, anything! You don’t need special permission or anything. Just leave a comment right here. There’s no deadline, so you can brag anytime during the weekend, and I’ll open a fresh Brag Basket each Friday.

I’m first! I’m going to Peru! And not Peru, Nebraska. I’ll be back after while with about 1000 photos of Maccu Picchu, etc. :)

And I’m bragging on Karen (aka OkieK, aka @sammysmom) who has been out promoting our grantwriting services. Go, Karen!

Sean, 8 years of consistent blogging is a huge record of accomplishment! And congrats on the move to WordPress and the new found motivation!

Peru sounds great! Suddenly my brag doesn’t sound nearly as interesting. :) But here goes…

I finally – yes, I know it’s long overdue – went beyond the typical facebook/linkedin social routes and actually started my own blog to write about things in the PR and integrated communications world that I think are interesting. It’s been a fun two weeks and I love having an outlet to share my thoughts, whether anyone is reading them or not.

So, I’m proud to introduce my own little corner of the online world – http://davidmullen.wordpress.com.

Any feedback to make it better is appreciated.

David, I’m excited! Having an outlet is a great thinking tool, and now I’m reading your thoughts, too. Thanks so much for the announcement, and Congratulations!

I heard about this from Chris Brogan and so I thought, “Why not”?

If I don’t step into the spotlight and share what I’ve achieved, who will do the telling? I guess it starts with me and then whatever happens from there is out of my control. So here goes:

In 2006, I became the first deaf pilot in the world to earn an instrument rating, which actually requires radio use. Go figure.

This year I met a nationally syndicated columnist who invited me to be interviewed, the result of an article that’s appeared in 7 cities (about overcoming adversity to achieve the impossible), with more coming. You can see an example here:

I prefer this little exercise to be called a small “PR” gig rather than one of bragging. More like “sharing” my experiences to inspire you to keep heading toward your dreams. :)

    Thanks for letting me share.

Stephen, I’m glad you shared! Why not, indeed! Congratulations for inspiring others, for paying attention to dreams, and for making a difference to others. Clearly worth a little PR, if not a little bragging. :) And, welcome!

I trust it’s not too late to brag, though this is a brag for a future triumph, coming up soon.
Monday night at 8pm Eastern US time (GMT-5) begins my weekly Web TV show, “A Medieval Hand: Calligraphy You Can Do”. It’s a relaxing, low-tech craft anyone who can write can do. A blog, http://amedievalhand.wordpress.com , has some ideas on how you can get prepared.
This is a project designed to break myself out of a shell I’ve been experiencing for a while. With the regular routine will come the confidence you all have with any regularly scheduled blog or podcast, which I guess this will be.

Rick, that sounds so neat! What a great way of bring the hand working trend to a new group of people. Congratulations and best of luck for a terrific launch!

Hiya Becky – Bragging on my biz BatchBlue getting a swell write-up in Web Worker Daily this past week. We just added email forwarding to our contact organizer BatchBook and people seem to be enjoying it :)

Have a great time in Peru and go crazy with that new camera!

Michelle, what a great write-up! Congrats on the new feature, and on continuing to excel at meeting people’s needs.

And thank you! I promise to go way overboard in the photo department. :)

Very strange to brag for me, but I’ll have a go: I am bragging about my bilingual blog (German and English) – hard work but it is fun!

Ulla, I’m very happy you decided to brag. You have a beautiful photo blog that is a terrific learning resource. Congratulations!
