Brag Basket – Really, go ahead and brag!

By Small Biz Survival

Do you hesitate about bragging? I’m amazed at how people, including you, can be so very shy with their accomplishments. So I’m beginning to realize that this is a second benefit of the Brag Basket; I am encouraging you to build your self-promotion skill!

Here’s how it works:

1. Think about your business this week; what went well, what didn’t work.

2. Pick one noteworthy accomplishment, splendid failure, or favorite moment.

3. Post a comment and brag about it!

That’s it. We’ll do this each weekend. The first purpose of the Brag Basket is to serve as a weekly reminder to review your business, think about where you are and where you want to be.

Just a couple of guidelines:

  • This is open to entrepreneurs, small biz owners, people who work in small biz, people planning a new business, or anyone else who has a business item to brag about. If you have a small town or rural connection, so much the better!
  • Feel free to include a sentence about your business and your home town, if you wish.
  • Do think about how much detail to include. You may want to leave out any sensitive info; keep it general. For example, this may not be the place to announce the details of your best new idea!
  • Don’t abuse this with spam advertising. I can and do delete abusive comments.
  • Send me your suggestions for improvements to this feature and the entire blog.

So, yes, you are personally invited to brag! Go ahead, dish up!

Here’s a splendid failure: I broke pretty much all of my websites last night around 1:30AM with one fell swoop. Brilliant.

Should be fixed in an hour, said the barely comprehensible person who couldn’t grasp the basic problem that I presented her.

    Oh boy.

OK, Chris, I’m sure you were shooting for an improvement. Since you were trying something positive, you get kudos, even though it bombed.

Keep moving! You only stumble if you are moving, and we know plenty of people who aren’t moving at all.

And here’s my brag for the week…
Zane Safrit quoted me not once, but twice!

And I’m pleased to start a relationship with Sandra Sims at Step by Step Fundraising. I think we’ll be doing some interesting things together.

AND I’m proud that Chris and I have decided on a project for me at Grasshopper New Media. Chris has bestowed the title of Executive Producer on me, and we are developing a small business themed podcast.

I have a couple of Brags.

I obtained a new client this week, a realty firm has hired me to re-design, develop and strategize their website.

I secured an appointment with the VP of Salem Radio Network (Bill Bennet, ect) to discuss our podcast show Small Business Trends Radio, http://www.smbtrendwire.com

MY business owns and operates for profit web properties that deliver digital products. We also do a whole series of marketing services all focused on the web and online business. We Grow Your Business Online.

Hurray, Steve! I think you love web strategizing as much as I do, and sounds like your radio show is about to gain some well-deserved recogntion! Here’s hoping the appointment goes very well, indeed.

    Thanks for bragging!
